Fiery Tractor-Trailer Crash in Georgia Results in Fatality
Commercial Trucks are extremely large and heavy vehicles that can cause far-reaching and lethal accidents. When a crash occurs due to negligence, the victims are entitled to fight for compensation for their injuries and damages.
When a person loses their life in a truck accident, no amount of compensation can replace their loss.
In August of 2020, in Bartow County, GA, a semi-truck driver suffered fatal injuries, and another driver in a Jeep Cherokee was badly injured after an accident on the I-75. According to the Georgia State Highway Patrol’s preliminary records, the tractor-trailer was in the right lane when the Jeep was merging onto the highway and lost control, striking the right side of the tractor-trailer. The semi-truck driver then lost control, running into the guard rail and damaging the fuel tank, which resulted in a fire. The driver of the tractor-trailer succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
This shows that it is essential to always be fully aware while sharing the road with semi-truck drivers. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, it takes a commercial vehicle traveling 65mph up to two football fields, or 600 feet, to come to a complete stop with good road conditions. On average, that is around a 50% longer stopping distance than a non-commercial vehicle.
