Mountain City, GA – One Dead and Several Injured in Head-On Collision
Mountain City, GA (December 10, 2022) – A head-on collision in Rabun County on Friday, December 9th, killed one man and left several people injured.
Around 6:30 in the evening, the collision occurred on U.S. 441 and Georgia 15, in Mountain City, at the intersection of North Johnson Avenue.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, a blue 2003 Ford Focus sedan driven by a 40 year old man of Clayton, Georgia, was headed north and attempted to pass vehicles in the left lane before crossing into the left southbound lane.
The front of the vehicle collided head-on with a gray 2013 Ford Explorer that was being driven southbound by a 34 year old woman from Lakemont.
A 49 year old male passenger in the Ford Focus died from his injuries.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the driver of the Ford Focus was taken to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center after suffering injuries to the chest, head, and feet.
Georgia State Patrol reported that three passengers in the Ford Explorer were also injured.
A 15 year old girl from Lakemont suffered colon and hip injuries; an 11 year old girl from Lakemont suffered from neck and back pain; and a 25 year old male from Rabun Gap sustained injuries to the head and hand.
The injured were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Georgia State Patrol reported that charges are pending for the driver of the Ford Focus.
