Putnam County, Georgia (August 15, 2023) – Five people were killed, including two children, in a head-on fiery collision near Lake Sinclair, according to Putnam County officials.
The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. on US Highway 441 between Milledgeville and Eatonton.
Four of the victims who suffered severe burns were riding in a 2018 Honda Civic that appeared to be traveling the wrong way — south in the highway’s northbound lanes — for more than a mile.
The fatal accident occurred about a mile and a half north of Lake Sinclair.
The driver of a northbound 2005 Nissan Xterra, a 44-year-old woman from Eatonton, had just gotten off work in Milledgeville and was headed home to Putnam. She passed away at the scene.
Her SUV was met head-on by a southbound Civic that was driven by a 22-year-old woman from Eatonton.
The Civic caught fire on impact.
The 22-year-old was killed along with her two children, an 8-month-old and a 3-year-old. Another passenger in the Honda, a 23-year-old from Eatonton, also died.
The cause of the crash was being investigated, but the sheriff said that answers might be difficult to come by. Apart from attributing the cause to a wrong-way driver, everyone involved in the accident died.
I met with Harry Brown personally and he sat with me for 20 minutes at our initial consultation to explain everything. He even called after my surgery to see how I was doing. I met with him several more times after that and was kept informed about my case throughout. I highly recommend Harry Brown as an attorney.
