Thomaston, Georgia (July 6, 2023) – Post 26 Georgia State Patrol in Thomaston reported that a fatal accident on 74 West on Monday evening claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman.
The 69-year-old woman from Warm Springs who was driving a 2014 Buick Enclave was the alleged at-fault driver. She told first responders that she went to sleep at the wheel, crossing the center line, which resulted in a head-on collision.
The 27-year-old woman’s husband, who was also hurt in the collision along with their daughter, was operating the eastbound vehicle, a 2023 Kia Sportage. Both were transported to the E.R. at Upson Regional Medical Center.
According to the GSP report, the woman was in the front passenger seat and was 13 weeks pregnant. She later passed away from her injuries at URMC.
The at-fault driver was taken to Macon Medical Center by Ameri Pro EMS.
The Georgia State Patrol team is investigating the accident; charges are pending against the at-fault driver.
